Facial age estimation is a relatively new research topic
in the area of facial image analysis. Compared with other
facial information such as identity, expression and gender,
estimation of age exhibits certain difficulties. Even a human
observer can rarely guess the exact age of a face image. The
reason is that the facial aging progress could be affected
by various factors, including not only the human gene, but
also many external factors, such as health, lifestyle, weather
conditions, etc. This makes age estimation a unique and
challenging problem.
We have developed a fast and reliable algorithm for age estimation.
Landmark points selection can be done manually or using point file (.pts FGNET file). Code has been tested on
FG-NET Aging Database: using 950 images randomly selected for training
and the remaining 52 images for testing we have obtained a MAE (Mean Absolute Error) equal to 5.77.

language (M-files and/or M-functions), with no dll or other
